Johnny Cuts Barbershop is a seven-time (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) Readers Choice Winner for Best in Men’s grooming in the Durham Region. Located in Oshawa, Ontario the barbershop has been servicing the surrounding area offering traditional men’s grooming services as well as a unique yet meticulously selected offering of products.

As Managing Partner, I work closely with my Partner/Lead Barber to define the company’s structure, curate the product/service offering, shape the shop culture and carry out governance and administration duties. We have successfully built one of the most popular and highly rated barbershops in the Greater-Toronto-Area.

I have been successful in understanding our market and defining our target client which has contributed to our success. We have almost a 100% booking rate, with several of our clients booking appointments months in advance and some an entire year in advance due to the shop’s popularity.

I manage administrative duties such as payroll, benefits, hiring, onboarding, termination, and budgets. Additionally, I lead the advertising and promotion effort which includes website maintenance, social media, and partner relations.

Cigar Company + Gentlemen’s Barbershop opened its doors in May 2017 in Markham, Ontario as a premium tobacconist and premier gentlemen’s barbershop. The shop was one of the first in the world to open as a Certified Habanos retailer which typically takes five to ten years to receive this certification from Habanos S.A. There is a diverse, carefully curated selection of premium cigars and tobacco products available as well as some of the best in men’s grooming services and products.

Leveraging my experience in men’s grooming and a background in business, my three partners which form the ownership group invited me to join in building this business from the ground up. I began with the development of the business plan and since then, I have had a hand in all aspects of this business from implementation of the point-of-sale, inventory, product procurement, hiring, defining barbering services and product selection, construction and maintenance, hosting private and customer events, and general customer engagement and relationship building. I have helped build a strong community of regular clientele which frequents the shop several times a week.
